NEW CoverGirl XL Nail Gel Review!

Hey Everyone!

I hope you are enjoying your Saturday! It's gloomy and raining here today but I can't say I mind. :) Also, Happy (early) Mother's Day to all you mom's out there reading this!

So I've been wearing the NEW CoverGirl Nail Gel in the shade Whole Lotta Guava for over a week now. I've taken pictures from when it was first applied, after 3 days, and finally after a week. When I purchased these from Walgreen's, they were $6.99. If you aren't new to CoverGirl nail polishes then you know that's a bit pricey for a nail polish from them. However, I do think the quality of this new collection is better than the cheaper polishes they offer like the Glosstini's.

I've actually been quite surprised! One, the color payoff with only one coat is great! Of course I always apply two coats but when you get a pretty decent opaque color on the first coat ... it's a good sign! Two, hello!? The color is gorgeous! Three, you get a really opaque but super glossy gel-like manicure. Four, the polish has lasted considerably well considering it's been over a week now. This has probably been one of my favorite drugstore polishes in awhile. I feel a lot of them such as Maybelline, Rimmel, Wet n Wild, etc ... are a good price but lacking in quality. So with that said I've been using a lot of mid to higher end polishes lately like Orly which are fantastic by the way. But happy to see a drugstore option that is good but also a decent price. And of course drugstores run the Buy 1 Get 1 50% off a lot which makes them ever more affordable.

A few things to keep in my mind:

  • I used my CND Stickey Base Coat. Check it out here! My favorite base!
  • I used the Sally Hansen Big Shiny Top Coat! My favorite top! Click here!

I recommend CoverGirl XL Nail Gel in Whole Lotta Guava!

  1. Very helpful...thank you and will make a purchase

  2. Did you use a top coat Hun? I just bought the lighter purple and the Fuse Starter kit. I was a nail tech years ago but forgot my way. Lol

    1. Yes! I use the CND Stickey Base Coat. I get mine from Ulta. It's good!

    2. There is a link to it above my pics in the post. :)

  3. Does this XL Gel polish have the same removal challenges as other gel polishes? I like the cushy look of gel polishes but have been wary of trying them due to the removal process.

  4. Thanks so much! You did a great job applying that polish. That for me was always the hardest part. lol I LOVE the Gel Miracle by SH. 6 days still going strong. Built in base coat.
